Rare 2650B discovered

Although the Signetics 2650 processor is not a very common microprocessor, it still enjoys a small group of retro-enthousiasts. What is more rare than the 2650? The 2650B variant that was released by Signetics in 1977!

The 2650B is so rare that no photos can be found anywhere on internet. No system designs have been published specifically for the 2650B. It is as if the 2650B only ever existed in Signetics datasheets. For a long time I believed no 2650B processors were around.

But recently two of these have been discovered, and I managed to get my hands on one of these mythical beasts!

You cannot believe how happy I was to be able to try one of these exotic processors. I carefully made my P1 board hospitable to the B-variant; the A- and B- are not entirely pin-compatible. Testing confirms that this is indeed a 2650B, long believed to be lost, but found.

I created a dedicated page for the 2650B.
